Over the past few years The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) has been developing a new software to review Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations across the U.S. In January of 2017 HRSA will be releasing an impact analysis to the various state DOH revealing which areas continue to qualify as HPSA utilizing their current data while being processed by the new software. This will be for all three cohorts, primary care, mental, and dental health.
Normally these designations are reviewed every three years, however, every HPSA designated before August 1st of 2016 will be reviewed. A second impact analysis will be run in April with final results published in July of 2017. This will determine who remains designated and what your new score is. We will keep a close eye on our clients current designations and notify you if any go into ‘proposed withdraw’ or if your score dramatically drops. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
