About HPSA Acumen

The idea of HPSA Acumen began in 1997 when Marijka E. Lampard, president and founder of HPSA Acumen, was a hospital planner and completed her first HPSA for St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, PA.

It was further reinforced while working as a planner at Kaleida Health in Buffalo, NY. It was apparent to her that hospitals across the U.S. would need help with the application process due to the size and complexity of these projects.

Our Mission

To strengthen the health of communities in the United States through the orchestration of HPSA designations. Benefits that flow from HPSA designations help medical service areas increase access to care for the marginalized and underserved.

This program aids in the recruitment of highly qualified physicians, assists clinicians with medical education loan repayment, and builds revenue through grant funding and increased reimbursement. Through these designations, we join the effort to provide access to the necessary healthcare that every American needs.
