UnityPoint Health – STAR Approved Practice Sites
About the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program
Healthcare professionals providing direct treatment or recovery support of patients with or in recovery from a substance use disorder including, but not limited to Physicians, Clinicians, Bachelor’s-level Substance Use Disorder Counselors, Behavioral Health Paraprofessionals, and Clinical Support Staff may be eligible for up to $250,000 for a six-year service commitment at a STAR-certified site.
The following clinicians are eligible for the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program: Mental Health Workers, Health Educators, Peer Support Counselors, Peer Support Specialists, Community Health Workers, Outreach Workers, Social Services Aides, Substance Abuse/Addiction Workers, Youth Workers, Promotor(a)s, Recovery Managers, Recovery Mentors, Recovery Support Specialists, Recovery Coach/Guide(s), Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nurse-Midwives, Certified Nursing Assistants, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Occupational Therapists, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Practical Nurses, Marriage and Family Therapists, Master’s Level Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Physicians, Psychiatric Nurse Specialists, Psychologists, Psychology Doctoral Interns, Registered Nurses and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselors.
Eligible clinicians must work at an eligible facility located in a county with a 3-year drug overdose rate higher than the national average or located in a Mental Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designation and approved for program participation by the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Loan Repayment Program. UnityPoint Health has over 200 STAR-approved sites throughout their system.

Please note, although your site may be approved there are program requirements that must be met by the individual provider. All providers must be working full-time, 40 hours per week and must spend at least 36 hours weekly providing direct treatment or recovery from a substance use disorder.
